Mark Gibson on Pursuing Curiosity For Better, or (almost never) Worse

August 17, 2018 by Lisa Gerber Leave a Comment

There has to be a certain kind of crazy to do some of the things Mark Gibson has taken on. He’s done things like skateboarded from capital to capital (Washington DC to Ottawa, Canada) with his son. He ran 276 miles across the state of Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia in (ten days – averaging over a marathon a day). He’s run the rim to rim to rim in the Grand Canyon and a 100-mile run along the entire length of the Florida Keys from Key Largo to Key West straight through) to name a few.

Mark is formally a member of the British National Gymnastics Team. He went on to become assistant coach to the U.S. Junior Olympic Team in Colorado Springs and now, teaches gymnastics to kids at his own gymnastics center in Pennsylvania. He is a keynote speaker and author of “Going For It” and “It’s Not About What You Can’t Do. It’s About What You Can’t Do Yet.”

The point here isn’t necessarily that YOU should concoct some strange thing to take on. It’s to hopefully inspire you to do the thing you want to do, whether you are 100 percent prepared or not, whether the time is right or not, whether you might fail or not.

Mark quit his job one month before his son was born to launch his speaking and writing career. He has a lot to share.

Let’s listen in gear up for what’s next.

How to Listen to Podcasts

There are a number of ways to access this (and other podcasts). You can listen directly from this page by clicking that orange play button above or the download link.

If you are on an iPhone, go to iTunes and subscribe. It will be added to your Apple Podcasts app which comes by default on your iPhone. Once you do that, you can browse around and add others to your podcasts:

On your Android phone, listen to it on Google Play, preinstalled on your phone:

Stitcher is another great app for listening to podcasts. Clicking below goes direct to The Gear Show but install the app and browse around for others: Lastly, I wanted to share with you a new app for finding and listening to podcasts – it’s called Radio Public. You can easily import your podcast list from your current app, explore new ones from curated lists, create your own playlist and share playlists with others. Find The Gear Show on Radio Public.

Want to do me a huge favor?

Reviewing and sharing are the most helpful ways to get this in front of new listeners.

  • Make sure and get the next episode in your inbox – subscribe right up there, top right of this page.
  • If you enjoyed this podcast, I would LOVE it if you reviewed it here on iTunes! It makes a big difference!
  • I really want to hear from you – questions, topic and guest suggestions, anything. Talk to me in the comments below or here.

See you next week!

What Others Are Saying

Thanks to Danny Brown for listing Lisa as a top 5 blogger to watch in 2013:

I first got to know Lisa Gerber from working with her when she was part of Arment Dietrich, and I knew then that she was a smart cookie… Her blog (has) become a staple part of my reading diet.
